Professor Uda Hashim is a distinguished scholar and innovator in nanotechnology, microelectronics, and biosensor engineering. He is Professor of Electrical and Electronic Engineering and Chair of the Engineering and Technology Research Cluster at Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS). Previously, he served as Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Research and Innovation and was the founding Director of the Institute of Nano Electronic Engineering (INEE) at Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP).
His research focuses on developing nanobiosensors, microfluidic systems, and lab-onchip platforms for rapid disease and pathogen detection, integrating nanotechnology with biomedical, agricultural, and food-safety applications. With over 1,000 publications—including papers in Nature Scientific Reports—and an H-index of 61 (Google Scholar), he has earned numerous accolades such as the Malaysia Research Star Award (2019), Top Research Scientist Malaysia (2014), and the ISESCO Laureate Award (2012). Prof. Uda continues to drive innovation in nanotechnology to advance global health and sustainable development.
