Professor Alan Drew

Queen Mary University of London

Professor Alan Drew is a Professor of Experimental Physics at Queen Mary University of London. He earned his doctorate and has built a distinguished career in the field of materials physics, focusing on using spin-sensitive and structural probes to investigate the fundamental properties of materials. His research interests include spin and charge carrier dynamics in organic and biological materials, energy materials, spintronics, novel quantum states, and biomass-derived nanostructured carbons. In recent years, he has also been developing organic–inorganic hybrid systems for optical and electrical radiation detection.

Throughout his career, Professor Drew has received numerous prestigious awards and fellowships, including the Fellowship of the Royal Commission of the Exhibition of 1851 (2004), Leverhulme Fellowship (2008), European Research Council (ERC) Fellowship (2012), Talent 1000 Scholarship from the Chinese Ministry of Education (2014), and the title of Changjiang Distinguished Professor at Sichuan University (2015).
