Chemical and process engineering is a discipline influencing numerous areas of technology. In broad terms, chemical and process engineering relies on the main foundations of chemistry, physics, mathematics, and economics to efficiently conceive and design processes to produce, transform and transport chemicals, materials, and energy. International Symposium on Chemical and Process Engineering in the 17th International Conference on Quality in Research (QiR) provides valuable opportunity to learn from each other, to transfer experience and to preserve existing know how, to enlarge visibility, and to grow professional network.

Biotechnology and its associated technical processes have had a great contribution on the development of people for thousand years. From the production of foodstuffs and daily commodities, biotechnology have become one of the most innovative future issues. Due to the increasing detailed understanding of cellular processes, production strains can now be optimized. In the development of biotechnology, by combining this area with modern bioprocesses, a variety of bulk and fine chemicals as well as pharmaceuticals can be produced efficiently. Primarily, bioprocess engineering combines biotechnology and engineering for the manufacturing of materials from renewable feedstocks as well as involving organism cell tissues molecular component. This field includes fundamental biomolecular research on proteins, enzymes and microbes, as well as work on biosensors, bioseparations and bioreactors. Applications include food processing and preservation; pharmaceutical, nutraceutical and sweetener production; air and wastewater treatment; bio-based structural motifs for supramolecular architectures; microfluidics for bioreactors and DNA chips; bioenergy; and applications in the pulp and paper industry. There are natural links to biomedical applications, such as drug metabolism, tissue engineering and bio-based therapeutic treatments. International Symposium on Biotechnology and Bioprocess Engineering in the 17th International Conference on Quality in Research (QiR) provides a platform for engineers, professionals and researches to present and discuss the new findings, new methodology, new technologies and solutions in biotechnology and bioprocess engineering areas.
