Industrial Engineering is an emerging field of study, that is concerned with the design, improvement and installation of integrated systems of people, materials, information, equipment and energy. It draws upon specialized knowledge and skill in the mathematical, physical, and social sciences together with the principles and methods of engineering analysis and design, to specify, predict, and evaluate the results to be obtained from such systems. International Symposium on Industrial Engineering in the 16th International Conference on Quality in Research (QiR) is a part of our initiative to provide a forum for researchers, engineers, and professionals to discuss and exchange the current research, the new technology and solutions in industrial engineering area. It is to be expected that this conference can foster the development of innovative solutions by integrating the role of people, process and technology

The topics in International Symposium on Industrial Engineering include, but are not limited to:

  • Production Systems and Logistics
  • Systems Engineering
  • Ergonomics and Innovation
  • Product Design and Development
  • Industrial Management
  • Data Engineering
  • Quality Systems
  • Operations Research
  • Maintenance and Reliability

Invited speaker

Professor Luciënne T.M. Blessing
Singapore University of Technology and Design

Lucienne Blessing studied Industrial Design Engineering in Delft, the Netherlands, where she obtained her MSc in 1984. Until 1992 she worked as lecturer at the University of Twente (NL) in the department of Mechanical Engineering, where she obtained her PhD. Until 2000 she worked in the Engineering Design Centre of the University of Cambridge (UK), initially as senior research associate and from 1995 as Assistant Director of the Engineering Design Centre. In 2000 she was appointed full professor at the University of Technology Berlin on the Chair of Engineering Design and Methodology. In 2007 she became vice-president for research of the University of Luxembourg and was appointed to the Chair in Engineering Design and Methodology. After the end of the mandate as vice-president in April 2013 she is back as full professor. In April 2013 she received an honorary doctorate from the Swedish Mälardalen University. Since October 2013, she is also the Director of the University of the Greater Region, a network of 6 universities in 4 countries.
